Who I am
我是一个创意指导和制作人,服务&产品设计师,也是一个艺术家。
我目前是Founder & Director of Canal Dream CIC, Curator of Slash Arts Gallery.
IN-BETWEENER AND CONNECTOR
I have always been an ‘in-betweener’, I am like an artist in the community of product and service designers, and like a consultant in the community of artists. I was hesitant because my role was not clear, but gradually I realised that not belonging to any group would open my eyes to a wider world.
I am an in-betweener.
I am also a connector.
DREAMER AND DREAM MAKER
I am good at blue-sky thinking and do my best to make it happen in reality. I dreamed of a flower-strewn stage, and then I carried all the daffodils I could find back to my tub. I dreamed of a moving theatre, and now we have sailed through 7 stations on the Regent's Canal.
My head is always dreaming.
And my hands never stop making dreams.
SYSTEM THINKER
I focus not only on a single process of a product or service, but on the whole system in which it is embedded.
Firstly I will research the current system from the bottom up and from the top down to fully understand the project context and how everything is connected. Then I would re-plan a new system with new goals.
STORYTELLER
"The human species thinks in metaphors and learns through stories." Mary Catherine Bateson
I use design thinking to sort out the system and then use metaphor and art to narrate it. Through a moving story, a beautiful vision, the various stakeholders are brought together.
My Story
Over the past ten years, I have trained in multiple disciplines including design, art, and business.
I studied product design and fine art at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and after graduating I started working as an industrial designer in the intelligent manufacturing industry and then joined a design agency as a project manager for a poverty and ecology project.
It was this experience that led to my interest in social innovation and complexity issues, which led to studying service design at the Royal College of Art and attending several courses on entrepreneurship and economics at the Imperial College Business School and the London Business School, as well as some collaborative projects.
Benefit from different disciplines of thinking, methods and tools, I can analyse and solve problems from multiple perspectives. Experience of projects in different industries makes me skilled in cross-sector collaboration.
